Dancing to the Beat of Love – Cecily & Medhy {Mitchellville, Maryland}

It’s been said that “Dance brings people together!”. When Cecily began dancing at the tender age of 3, little did she know that her love for dance would be the very thing that introduce her to the love of her life, Medhy.

It was a rainy and quiet day in Mitchellville, as most people were preparing for the arrival of highly anticipated Hurricane Irene. But Cecily & Medhy would not be phased by the hype. Although admittedly disappointed that she would no longer be able to have her ceremony on the beautiful terrace of Newton White Mansion, Cecily kept her mind focused on the main purpose of the day – marrying the man of her dreams and celebrating the occasion with her closest family and friends.

It seems like the sun peeked from out of the clouds just to shine its rays right down on Cecily. She looks amazing! And Medhy looks very “GQ” as well!

Oh my… cutest baby ever!

Cecily is wearing such an amazing smile as she enters the room. Just beautiful!

Cecily’s hair is drop.dead.stunning! I hope the natural hair brides are paying attention to this one. Lovely braiding!

How did dancing bring these two together, you ask? While studying at Howard University, Cecily was part of the African dance ensemble Nsaa. Medhy’s brother was a drummer for Nsaa and introduced them to each other back in 2002. They began dating “officially” in 2005 and Medhy popped the question in 2010 while they were standing in front of the Eiffel Tower. So sweet!

How cute are these customized water bottles? I’m sure they were great to have on hand for all the dancing that was about to take place. :)

What is a wedding without family? These group shots will be treasured for years to come.

Don’t you hate it when you’re at a party or wedding and all the guests stand around and stare at each other? Well let me tell you, Cecily & Medhy did not have that problem. With live drums and Shekeres (African maracas), I don’t think there was a single guest in their seat.

Cecily and her bridesmaids (also former members of Nsaa) made another grand entrance, performing a traditional dance from Mali called “Sunu”.

These are GREAT action shots by Wanakhavi of Wanaimage! Nice job capturing the energy and excitement of the performance!

Everyone…and I mean EVERYONE is on the dance floor – the young in age and young at heart!

^Cecily is having the time of her life. I love this picture of her in her bright garb and that amazing smile!

^ Even the little ones got into it!

Cecily & Medhy – what a fun wedding! Thank you so much for sharing your pictures with the blog. You guys have truly showed us how to “dance to the beat of love”. We wish you both continued success and joy!
